Ms. von Natzmer has been prosecuting US patent and trademark applications for more than 20 years procuring well over 200 US patents while prosecuting and maintaining US trademarks for clients from primarily the US and Europe. She assists her clients with patent preparation, patent prosecution, patent opinions (infringement and validity) and IP contracts as well as US trademark prosecution, maintenance and representation in Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) proceedings. Many of Ms. von Natzmer's clients are small and medium sized biotechnology companies, which put a strong emphasis on their IP assets. Ms. von Natzmer also serves as patent and trademark counsel for an array of prominent institutions of higher education. She attended the University of Vienna, Austria and Imperial College, London, U.K., from which she graduated with a B.Sc. Degree in Biotechnology and earned a Masters Degree in Molecular Biology (Microbiology, Genetics, Plant Physiology & Law) from the University of Freiburg, Germany. After finishing her Masters thesis, she conducted research at the Max-Planck Institute for physiological and clinical research in Bad Nauheim, Germany, studying a presumed obesity gene in rats. She worked in a mid-sized patent law firm in Washington, DC, while receiving her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the Washington College of Law, American University (evening division).
Ms. von Natzmer is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and is admitted to the New York Bar, the District of Columbia Bar and the Maryland Bar. She is a member of different Intellectual Property (IP) law associations and the bar associations of the states she is admitted to. She is also qualified as a court designated mediator of civil disputes in Maryland.
